How do you store it to keep it fresh?
The best way is to order whole roasted beans direct from us, we will roast your preferred beans, package them and send them to you as soon as possible. From there, its best to keep the beans in a sealed bag, the bag its shipped in will do. They should stay in a cupboard for example, away from direct sun light and in a cool area. Its not recommended to put them in the fridge or freeze them as the act of taking them out and placing them back in will introduce condensation which will affect the volatile oils which provide all the flavour. Finally, only grind beans enough for 1 day or so.
If you order ground coffee from us, be sure to keep it in a cool place (but not a fridge or freezer), away from direct sunlight in a sealed bag / container such as the bag it was shipped in.
Should I purchase whole bean or ground?
When purchasing coffee, whole bean is always better than ground as the whole beans keep the flavour inside and will provide better tasting coffee then ground coffee since ground coffee has usually been ground for more than a day (ground coffee provides the best flavour up to 24 hours after being ground).
How long does grinding take? What grinder should I get?
Grinders come in many varieties, shapes and sizes. For coffee, most any regularly available coffee grinder will do, you can buy them at Canadian Tire, or Walmart or your favourite department store. Prices range from $5 all the way up to $100. Some are manual turn, some are electric with a button, others are full automatic where you can choose the fineness of the grind.
Is coffee healthy for me?
Check out the wikipedia page on it, it seems to be! But like everything else, in moderation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_coffee. If any coffee is healthy, it would be the fresh ground sort as it retains the most oils from the beans.
