The EASIEST. BEST. litter box

Ok guys, if you have a cat or cats, this is easily THE. BEST. litter box ever :D. I bought this on a whim, was looking for a covered box because somehow our cat pees over the sides of anything else…, and for $5 more from Cantire, this roll around litter box was available. So I thought,. meh, I’ll give it a go. If it doesn’t work well, i still have a covered litter box.

Does it work?? Let me tell you, this thing is genius! No multiple scoop trips to the garbage, or searching around for lumps 😛 . You roll this thing over, and back and pull out the large scoop and dump it once! You could even role it a few different times and store the lumps in the scoop if you don’t want to take it to the garbage immediately (for example, great when traveling, scoop is integrated).

I just think this is one of the best inventions I’ve seen so far! I recommend you get this if you have cats, and it doesn’t require batteries or electricity like some of the other HIGH priced alternatives.

I am a dad!

simpsons-dad-400a0604WoOHOO, we’ve been holding this information closely for a while but now I’m allowed to announce it, at least here.. we’ll see how long it takes to get to facebook. We are pregnant with our first child. I don’t really know what to think or feel, its a whole new experience. We haven’t been to the doctors yet for ultrasound or anything – thats coming up.

You’re thinking,.. he put a picture of Homer up in his first blog about being a dad?? 😀  Homer never was the best role model but he loved his kids anyways. Obviously, its not a good comparison, but I love the simpsons anyways… so there! Anyways, I hope our family is far more than what the simpsons is, thats for sure.

I’m thinking, boy, I’d better watch what I say on this blog now cause my kids will be able to read it all, see all the videos and photos from our days ‘before children’ and they’ll be able to see our whole lives from back then in this age of digital immortality. Not sure yet just how many we’ll have, I think Lindsey wants 3. I think we should help raise Canadas average birth rate! I’m pumped that we will be able to bring children into this world starting in Canada, they’ll have great opportunities and wealth, although with that is much responsibility. We’ll have to discipline them and teach them well and I have no idea how to do all that. I suppose you just learn as you go with this.

I can say now, without even having a kid, I don’t know how any single parent does it! (maybe thats getting ahead of myself).

This is the worst blog ever, I’m all over the place :/  Anyways, I’m a dad now, no going back, I have a new family member to bring up, protect, shelter, and love, and a whole new world of experiences exist now. Now I’m really seeing the ‘circle of life’, we’re born, we grow old, we have children, we pass away, meanwhile the children are growing old, having children and that continues generation to generation.

New life is awesome but I can’t help but think that with new life, comes the truth that our lives are slowly and surely marching towards the end, sounds morbid a bit I guess, but hey, I have heaven and Jesus to look forward to so thats not SO depressing. One thing I don’t really like is change, having a new baby is good change, don’t mind that but for example, the first time I moved out of our house to go to college. that was a big life changing event, and then moving to NWT to pursue a job, far away from parents then, totally on my own, now to PEI. And my parents are getting older and sickness comes with that and I wonder how long they will be around, hopefully for a long time. I hope they both, all 4 parents indeed will be able to see our children grow up.

roller_coaster1249662567Life is such a roller coaster ride, sometimes you can enjoy the ride, other times you can enjoy the scenery as you scoot along,  other times like being cranked up the hill, the wait can be stressful, and the outcome scary, and then there are always times when you just have to hang on just like racing down the steep hill.

What will the new year hold for us, what will family be like on the Island here, how will our lives change once we have kids?

Scary a bit, exciting, and it really makes you think about life all over again!

The Endless Pursuit of Money

So I was looking at Google Adsense, everyone wants to make money from basically nothing, or a minimum amount of work. Adsense is no miracle program, it requires that you have already a LOT of traffic, and if you have a LOT of traffic, likely you are already running a money making business with a website or multiple websites.  I’m always looking for more money, how to make it, where it can be found. Luckily with my websites I’ve been able to generate REAL money by their design and hosting. Because they are relatively smaller, locally based websites, the click through rate is not good at all. Usually its return visitors with some connection to the organization or whatever. And with those, you can’t make money.

With things like Adsense, you make money on ‘click through’s for the most part, you can make it on views but I think ‘click through’s are the real money spot. So… I’ll never make much money off Adsense, I haven’t even really decided to start using it across my websites, you’ll see a little box at the bottom of this page, but again… I get maybe 1 visitor a day to my site? And most are friends, so thats not making any money.

What is my suggestion for making money? Create goods, products, services. I make real hard earned cash from creating websites, content, managing that content. Thats a tangible business, its steady and though I’m not getting anywhere near rich off it, its predictable and a great side job! Its enough to pay for its own hosting fees and other things.

Conclusion? .. stick with making real things for real people. Figure out what you love to do and do it. If you can paint, then paint pictures and sell them at flee markets or whatever. Making money is going to take work. No millionaires became that way from Google Adsense, they worked hard and long at whatever they were doing.
