The age of digital bibles
Are digital bibles any less the Word of God? As I was doing my daily morning reading (and email of thoughts to Lindsey and a friend, which kinda acts like accountability) I wondered where my ‘real’ bible was. My paper and leather bound bible, the thing where you turn real pages. Does God care whether we read a bible on a mobile device or whether we hold a bound bible, or maybe he prefers we read it from a leather scroll, or better yet, a stone tablet? Does it matter? I don’t think God cares HOW we learn about Him and how we get into His Word. I think the argument is kinda like drinking. Does it glorify God to do it? Does it act as a stumbling block to anybody? Example, if I’m reading my bible on my ipad every morning, does Arden know...
Quiet Christmas
This year we had a white Christmas which was excellent (see pic). We got it a few days before Christmas. I’ve had lots of opportunity to get out on my lawn tractor and push snow around. I love using my gas powered tools! I always enjoyed shoveling snow. Its a fresh experience every time, fresh cold air, different snow to move, different obstacles to get around, different types of snow, different times of day. Even better if its snowing out WHILE pushing the snow around. Its just a relaxing sort of thing yet it burns a few calories too. I’ve eaten SO much already, mostly sugar :/ Too much. Today, Boxing day as I write this, is going to be a lazy day where I just stoke the fire – though I should do a load of firewood. Mostly for my...
Daylight Savings Time
Daylight saving time (DST)—also summer time in several countries[1][2][3][4][5][6] including in British English and European official terminology (see Terminology)—is the practice of temporarily advancing clocks during the summertime so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn.[7] Modern DST was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson.[8] Many countries have used it since then; details vary by location and change occasionally. So I get DST, allows more sun in the afternoon and therefore evening then ‘normal’. I get that. But why do we need it? I think we should shift ’9 to 5′ to the average sun up and...
Happy Birthday to me
Its my birthday, I’m 34 today. Maybe another 40 years to live? Three score and 10 or a little more as the bible records as being the lifespan of man generally. For my birthday I got a super cool apple peeler. Always wanted one, I found it so tedious to peel apples, especially when you could get an old school mechanical peeler. We have yet to go apple picking but when we do, I’ll be ready! Its interesting to do the once a year ‘look back’ at ones life and consider the events, and where one is at, and how many children one has and will have now and in the future. We have SO many more birthdays, Christmas’, thanksgivings etc ahead of us as we have kids and they grow old. Another 20 years of this as a family under one roof for sure....
The day the week went by
Its been a busy week, not just at work but at home to as Lindsey is out and about with church work and such. The days fly by when you work all day, work over the lunch hour, then off and out of the house for the night somewhere. Went by so quick the weekend is already here. Arden is growing up just as quickly and I enjoy being able to see it rather then being out at work all the time. I get to see the small changes and the big changes. Lindsey pulled out the camera again and took some videos. I always think I should take more, but then I think, oh, we’ll do it tomorrow so I’m glad shes on that one! Tonight after our fussy went to bed, I got the ‘new’ Seadoo starter put in engine (and tested this time!). Its a second hand one off ebay....
