The Lost Art Of Everything
I’ve blogged and ranted on such things before but I’m still and regularly amazed at the things in society we see as hobbiest stuff, or only for the real connoisseur. What am I talking about? Basic stuff, like fixing your car. How many know the basics of oil and spark plug changes? How many actually check their tire pressure and ensure their fluids are topped up (without the prompting of the idiot lights on the dash)? Or baking bread, it used to be something everyone did every day, that was how they got their bread. Or collecting eggs from their chickens. Even coffee roasting, the luxury with coffee isn’t in roasting it yourself, though it is a better tasting result, the luxury is in buying it already roasted in convenient ‘fresh...
Bible Prophecy Updates
I’ve blogged about this guy before, Steve Hadley, he is a pastor in Nevada. I like his teaching style and its exciting to listen to him for any of his sermons really. He regularly does prophecy updates here: http://www.harvestreno.org/messages.asp Unfortunately they aren’t youtube or something easily embed-able, I’ve been after him to change that. Regardless, they are excellent and really good for people new to bible prophecy as well. Check him out, browse through his list of sermons. Not iPad compatible either so you will need an android device or PC / Mac (i’ve also emailed him on that ) Latest update is about Gog and Magog, the coming battle related to Ezekiel 38. fascinating...
Catholics and sacred spaces
Tonight was the ecumenical service, held at one of the local Ch’town catholic churches. Its a new building, oddly arranged but thats another story. What I thought as I stood there in service tonight looking at the statues of Mary and Christ and the burning prayer candles is that the more liturgical denominations create better ‘sacred spaces’. The ones where you can walk in mid-week, find a place to yourself in front of Mary or Jesus (not that i believe we should pray in front of Mary or that she has any significance outside of being the mother of Christ…) and pray, or ponder your life and your spirituality quietly. To their credit, they seem to create more of an experience for solitude and being alone with God. Maybe its the statues...
Bible Prophecy Update for January 2012
While this year is hyped as a big year for doomsday scenarios, I can tell you for a fact that the world will not end. Why? Cause the bible says so. Let me preface this prophecy update by saying that no where am I saying that the things I’ll talk about are ABSOLUTELY the items written about in the bible. Why? Well, the bible doesn’t give us a date and time for these things to happen (example one world government), it simply says in the last days there WILL be a one world government. So whether the things happening now fulfill that or simply are the precursors, it doesn’t really matter. Its enough at this point in time to recognize where the world is moving and how geopolitical events are occurring and ushering us towards these biblical events. If...
The JVIM Prophecy Bible
I have a Jack Van Impe prophecy bible, if you’ve never heard of it or him, its a bible produced by Jack Van Impe which attempts to highlight all the significant prophetic scriptures through the pages of Holy writ. (just wanted to use ‘writ’ in a blog writ 1 (rt) n. 1. Law A written order issued by a court, commanding the party to whom it is addressed to perform or cease performing a specified act. 2. Writings: holy writ. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/writ I’ve definitely got into opening my REAL bible and actually fine it refreshing to read the KJV again as there are potentially more interesting insights. I find it has interesting historical truths, for example how they label animals like I blogged about (unicorn, search...
