The snow finally cometh.
We’ve finally gotten 4 or 5 straight days of sub zero temps and some snow to go along with it so we actually have a bit of a winter here now (see pic). Whats the sad part? Well, I broke my lawn tractor a while back so I can’t use it to push the snow around and let me tell you, its a lot less fun to do so manually :/ Now I’m looking out for either another tractor or a tranny for mine. What would I REALLY like?? I’d REALLY like a cub cadet tractor with blade, and there IS one on usedpei right now! Almost my dream setup Problem is its $1800. Now, I *could* sell my seadoo or something but I hate to do that I think I would regret it in the summer time! The one on usedpei is the ideal setup, with the mower deck and blade ready...
A good winter
I like cold snowy winters. That sounds pretty standard right? Who doesn’t want a real winter? Well, a lot of people would prefer no snow and above zero temps which is odd. I prefer anything below -5 and hopefully at least thin layer of snow and ideally a foot or more. Might as well have winter during winter! Today its -6 or so out in downtown Wheatley River, with a light dusting of snow (which apparently still isn’t going to stay as it will be above zero sometime this week …) When its well below zero, the house actually feels warmer too. Less wind probably and certainly less humid. I think I enjoy winter just as much as summer for the most part, its different sort of thing, different activities. I definitely don’t...
The Home Roaster
So my new kick and plan for the new year is EXERCISE… No, jking… my 2012 kick is to get a roasting machine and attempt to roast our own coffee. WHy you say? Well, let me back up. Last year or so we decided to start grinding our own coffee. In sufficiently large quantities of roasted beans we were able to get a FAR fresher taste and better coffee AND save money over the little containers of ground coffee at the store. Over the last year though, coffee has gotten more expensive making it more costly to get whole roasted beans now in what are the largest bags you can get at any of the grocery stores, the 2 pound bags. They are between $15 and $18 now :S. We WERE getting them for around $12. So I said to myself, I said ‘Self, this is crazy, there...

Riding into December
Having so much fun with the temperatures these days. Today it was up to 17 degrees or something crazy? I got to ride out to Kensington to meet Lindsey with the dead car, and early to church on Sunday, and today for breakfast (as of writing this, Nov 30th). My goal is to ride in December, maybe even January… not sure I’ll get that far into winter but if temps keep up I’ll get another few rides in. What is different about this season for riding is that there is sand on the roads from the snowfall we had. Which means its much easier to break the rear tire (without burning all the rubber off it). The intersections especially are great, just the perfect time to twist the throttle and kick the back end out as you drive around the corner. So...
