Seadooing in October

»Posted by on Oct 8, 2011 in General | 0 comments

Not sure its the world record for in cold weather but I sure didn’t see anyone else out on the water for pleasure this morning (13 celsius but blue skies and sunny). This 8th of October though was the perfect day to both get some riding in and ready the ‘doo for winter as well. I was prepared (though I did forget my life jacket of all things :/ …). I had my ipad for emergency calls / txts / emails. And I had my CanTire 500Amp booster pack – just in case the battery died again. I bought a can of ‘Sea Foam’ which is a brand name I had never heard of, its for marine engines generally though. This stuff cured everything for the engine, or promised it anyways. Lubrication, cleans carbs, helps rejuvenate old seals etc…...

A good life isn’t an easy one

»Posted by on Sep 5, 2011 in General | 0 comments

A good life isn’t necessarily an easy one, and most often is not. Course that doesn’t mean your whole life is a trial, just that hardship helps you appreciate the easier times. I have lots of time to think while sluggin firewood. The image is of one of my 3 (so far) stacks of wood. This one was ‘designed’ out of free wood pallets. Free pallets have many uses. I was able to make good use of them to make a nice stand. I life / touch each piece of firewood probably 6 or 7 times before it actually gets burned. From throwing it off the lumber pile, to throwing it into the trailer, off the trailer, stacking it, tossing it down the shoot to the basement, s plotting it, then stacking it all over again and once more into the fire. How many times...

A busy few days

»Posted by on Jul 7, 2011 in General | 0 comments

The last two days we’ve had visitors over for supper which is always a lot of fun. Now that we have a house, its a great opportunity and privilege to be able to host people here. Everyone enjoys free supper right? Its been nice and warm the last couple days, the ONE day it rained was the full day WIll and Kate were here unfortunately. THe day after it was nice and sunny Ah well such is life. They are as I type on some retreat, a little time off from the tour before going to the Calgary stampede. I really enjoyed the opportunity to see them. They seem so willing to meet people, and genuinely happy and enjoying it. It really allows people to like them and to see them as their ‘own’ royalty. After chasing them, it seems to me as if we’ve...

Riding and mowing

»Posted by on May 9, 2011 in General | 0 comments

We went for an excellent ride yesterday. A mothers day ride, 4 couples hopped on bikes and we rode from Charlottetown to Montague. We stopped at the local Tims and joined 20 or so other bikers and bikes enjoying the relatively weather. That image obviously isn’t us but I suppose we would have blended in there, all of us except for Lindsey and I on our Honda xr650 Summer is coming and that’s great for more riding and soon lawn mowing. The grass is JUST about ready for the first cut. It’s been rainy and wet here so the Island is getting greener every day. The trees are in full budding, the birds are out fishing in the river – just saw one grab a fish out our front window. I haven’t got the mower deck on the tractor yet though....

Summer is coming

»Posted by on Apr 30, 2011 in General | 0 comments

It’s been so warm out lately that we haven’t had a fire on for the last two days. The grass is also growing and green. Won’t be long before I need to put the mower deck back on the lawn tractor. So I got m bike on the road. Only took 2 weeks of go ing back and forth to the Honda shop and licensing bureau. ( also found out I had been driving with expired plates on our caliber :/. Apparently I need to renew every year, shoulda remembered). Along with inspection and all the parts required for that I got a chiltons manual for the bike and new grips. My grips are well chewed from lots of crashes! Went out on. My first ride this year with two friends from ch’townto summerside. Put 100 kms on the bike just on that first trip. And we have lots of...
