Sewing – the last frontier

»Posted by on Oct 16, 2011 in General | 1 comment

So I took home-ec. We drove to Sunderland in public school to take home ec and we learned basic cooking skills, sewing, and other things I’m sure but I don’t recall what else… In that class I sewed a pair of boxing gloves from a pattern, and learned things like turning fabric inside out, sewing, that turning outside in again to get a nice finished product – like a pillow. Anyways, small thing, but something you can transfer to any kind of sewing. Even just learning how to thread needles and the threader helper tools and such is handy. Since then I’ve sewed coats, overalls, hockey bags and hockey equipment and all sorts of things. One thing about it though, regular thread doesn’t work for heavy fabrics, massive oversized teddy...

Screaming Parents

Hockey and screaming parents goes together. This is where you get all the stories of parents getting into fights with other parents over their kids games, or parents yelling at the refs for bad calls or something. NOTE: The refs have the HARDEST job on the ice, they never get thanks, just get yelled at all the time for calls either team doesn’t agree with. You hardly ever hear ‘that was a well ref’d game tonight’.  I personally would NEVER be a ref because of the flack you get just for being there, for me its not worth the 15 bucks or whatever they get for a game. We played a game saturday night in a Christian league no less and guys were pushing, chirping, one even got kicked out of the game and is suspended for 3. Now, this isn’t...

Going to make my millions

»Posted by on Sep 9, 2010 in General | 0 comments

Well I conquered facebook apps  - sure, its not really the most elaborate facebook app,… ok, its super basic… STILL, I made a facebook app and it works (See here: http://apps.facebook.com/kbhlstandings/) Now I’m off to conquer and make my MILLIONS on iPad and iPod Touch / iPhone apps   . Going to download the SDK, though not right now as its 2.5gigs :/ . Due to my slow Internet, that will be an overnight thing. I think I might just start with a KBHL app again and see how it goes, may have to learn cocoa or xcode or whatever the language is in use You can tell I haven’t looked into it much yet. If I do get something going, I’m sure I’ll blog on it. Gotta keep learning new things eh! Creating stuff is fun, especially when...

A ‘just because’ blog

»Posted by on Apr 28, 2010 in General | 0 comments

Felt the need to write a blog, dunno why. Its a grey, really grey rainy day here. The little guy on our ‘the weather network’ weather station is dressed in a raincoat and has his  umbrella handy and the clouds above him show precipitation of the liquid sort (unlike the image beside). Currently we’re waiting for CMHC approval, I expect to hear something today so we can get the mortgage approval. Yahooo! We’re praying that the Lord is guiding us, helping us make wise decisions, and that we can afford owning a house and all that. Its a big change, for anyone I guess, it being our first time. The baby is rumbling away everyday inside Lindseys tummy. So far so good, all healthy as far as we know. It could come any day now apparently. Wish I had...

Moms Legacy

Here is a post by Fretz, a family friend,  who really covered a lot of ground in terms of who mom was and what she did. Awesome that she had such an impact on others like this, well, I guess I figured, but its great to read about it as well: http://pickfretzsbrain.blogspot.com/2010/01/legacy.html She was also a very enthusiastic audience member, with literal bells and whistles. Every time I return home for KBHL Hockey, I hear a ringing in my ears.
