The end of the web

»Posted by on Jan 19, 2012 in General | 0 comments

No, i’m not talking about SOPA. Sometimes in the morning I look at my RSS feeds and news apps and nothing really changes. I kinda expect new exciting news on some front daily. Sometimes I just find myself trying to figure out what to google next, what interesting thing can I look up? Is there another website on prophecy or coffee, or some other hobby of mine that I haven’t see yet? Maybe an incredible website full of informations and vids that for some reason I hadn’t spotted up till now? Alas, often times I just feel like I’ve seen all there is to see on a subject and I”m slightly disappointed. It may be that that is a sign I’m spending TOO much time on my ipad in the morning sipping my coffee when I really could /...

The age of digital bibles

Are digital bibles any less the Word of God? As I was doing my daily morning reading (and email of thoughts to Lindsey and a friend, which kinda acts like accountability) I wondered where my ‘real’ bible was. My paper and leather bound bible, the thing where you turn real pages. Does God care whether we read a bible on a mobile device or whether we hold a bound bible, or maybe he prefers we read it from a leather scroll, or better yet, a stone tablet? Does it matter? I don’t think God cares HOW we learn about Him and how we get into His Word. I think the argument is kinda like drinking. Does it glorify God to do it? Does it act as a stumbling block to anybody? Example, if I’m reading my bible on my ipad every morning, does Arden know...

The ‘goto’ device

I posted before about my experience with the iPad when my macbook was out of commission. Now that the full cycle has occurred – had macbook, was without macbook, have macbook back – I can say again that the iPad is 90% there but for efficiency in more power user projects, I definitely gravitate to the macbook. In some cases, I really have no choice, in others, its just easier as a whole to do them on the macbook. Example, blogs, I’m writing this blog on my macbook. Initially I grabbed my ipad and bluetooth keyboard, ready for a session with Blogsy (my chosen – and paid for – blog writing IOS app). Then I thought, Oh, my macbook is good to go, how about I use that. Why? couple of reasons: bigger screen, larger ‘desktop’...

A week only an iPad

»Posted by on Dec 29, 2011 in General | 0 comments

Last week I fried my mac power cord, it shorted after plant water spilled on it. And my macbook battery had a ‘replace NOW’ status for the last year or more. So, I got on ebay and ordered up a cheap replacement battery and cord, all for under $100 including shipping (I think..). For anyone in the know, apple batteries alone cost like $150 or something…   For the last week though, without a decent battery, my mac has been sitting, shutdown, doing nothing and with no way to fire it up.    I’ve barely missed it since I have my iPad! Amazing.  The only things I wanted my Macbook on for were the following: to sync my photos from my ipad to the mac for backup purposes to download my podcasts – iPad doesn’t have a...
