The age of digital bibles

»Posted by on Jan 18, 2012 in General | 0 comments

Are digital bibles any less the Word of God? As I was doing my daily morning reading (and email of thoughts to Lindsey and a friend, which kinda acts like accountability) I wondered where my ‘real’ bible was. My paper and leather bound bible, the thing where you turn real pages. Does God care whether we read a bible on a mobile device or whether we hold a bound bible, or maybe he prefers we read it from a leather scroll, or better yet, a stone tablet? Does it matter? I don’t think God cares HOW we learn about Him and how we get into His Word. I think the argument is kinda like drinking. Does it glorify God to do it? Does it act as a stumbling block to anybody? Example, if I’m reading my bible on my ipad every morning, does Arden know...

The Eclectic Blogger

Lindsey commented on my blogging style 2 weeks ago, she called it eclectic. Adjective: Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. Noun: A person who derives ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.     I take this as a complement. One of the things I always wanted to be was a good conversationalist with people I didn’t know, not necessarily a good small talker, but one who could speak intelligently about a wide range of subjects. Why? Well cause my dad could do that. I was always fascinated by the different people he would talk to on the street or church or wherever about ANYTHING. He could talk to blue collar folk, white collar, he could talk polictics, car...

How Old Am I?

»Posted by on Nov 5, 2011 in General | 0 comments

I am SO old that:- I remember having to walk up to the television to change the channel- I remember when we had one single rotary dial phone in the kitchen with no answering machine and we would all need to take turns to use it and ask specifically for someone on the other end (and it took forever to dial a 10 digit number that had lots of digits above 5)- I remember when we had to wash dishes by hand, ALL of them and it was our chore after each meal to wash them- I remember when windows in cars were rolled down by hand and to lock a car, you had to open each door and push the knob down manually- I remember when the internet was a 14.4 modem connected to the Beaverton BBS and talking to the SYSOP was the highlight of the ‘online’ adventure!- I...

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. [Ecclesiastes 3:1] Pause and think on that as is Matts motto.

Sunny Saturday Morning

»Posted by on Jun 11, 2011 in General | 6 comments

Its a sunny saturday morning. A little cool, 18 or something outside… I’m relaxing here in our dining room looking out the front window on the sun covered rolling hills and wind swept grass. We haven’t decided what to do yet. Over to Greenwich ,and then Naufrage maybe? Also have big plans to get a clothesline up and running. Maybe do some mowing today too… Its really nice to have a few plans and the rest of the day to relax and ‘toodle’ around the house. Its extra nice to toodle when its sunny and warm out! This morning Arden and I were out on the front lawn, its a great place in the morning to wonder about, pick the dandelions and buttercups that spring up and absorb some of the warmth from the sun. Too bad UV is so high...
